Simon Lefebvre Invited to 2019 Adidas MLS College Showcase

PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's soccer senior Simon Lefebvre has been selected to participate in the inaugural 2019 adidas MLS College Showcase, as announced by Major League Soccer on Wednesday afternoon. The showcase will run from Dec. 13-15 in Raleigh, N.C. to give technical staffs from every MLS club an opportunity to scout the top collegiate prospects in the nation.
"I am very excited for Simon to be recognized as one of the top players in college soccer this season," said head coach Brian Rowland. "He has shown over his two seasons with us here at Temple that he is a difference maker that checks all the boxes to be professional. We are eager to watch Simon's professional career and know he has a bright future ahead."
Lefebvre was pivotal to Temple's success this season, playing all 1704 minutes between the posts to spearhead one of the top defensive units in the AAC. The Ossun, France native allowed just 22 goals in 18 games for a goals against average of 1.16 during his senior year. He thwarted 57 shots against some of the nation's top offensive threats for a save percentage of 0.722, helping the Owls to an 8-8-2 overall record. On Nov. 9, the senior keeper notched six critical saves in Temple's 2-1 double overtime win over Memphis, helping the squad to its first-ever victory in the AAC tournament.
He earned All-AAC second team honors for his efforts this season and was named AAC Goalkeeper of the Week on October 21. Lefebvre wrapped up his illustrious career in Cherry and White with a goals against average of 1.21, the fifth best in program history.
The 2019 adidas MLS College Showcase will feature 40 of the NCAA's top players participating in a series of training sessions, testing, interviews and match play. The event allows MLS clubs to interact with potential SuperDraft selections earlier in their collegiate careers without jeopardizing players' collegiate eligibility.
The showcase occurs in conjunction with the 2019 NCAA Men's College Cup and is a closed-door scouting event officially sanctioned by the NCAA. The eligible player list for the 2020 MLS SuperDraft presented by adidas will be announced at a later date following the 2019 adidas MLS College Showcase.
