PHILADELPHIA – Freshman guard Asonah Alexander was named the American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week and the Big 5 Player of the Week following an outstanding performance last Tuesday against Villanova.

Both awards are the first career accolades for the rookie out of Prospect Park, N.J.

In the 74-69 win over the Wildcats, Alexander finished just shy of a triple-double with a career-high 19 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists to record her second double-double of the season. The guard shot 58% (7-for-12) from the floor and went 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Alexander leads both Temple and the American with 5.1 assists per game.

Next up, the Owls welcome Florida Gulf Coast to McGonigle Hall on Sunday, Dec. 22 for a 12 p.m. tip-off.
