Gymnastics Nabs Top Spot in ECAC Preseason Coaches Poll

PHILADELPHIA— Temple gymnastics earned the top spot in the ECAC Preseason Coaches Poll, as announced on Monday afternoon. The reigning ECAC Champions tallied 34 points overall and four first place votes. Taking the second and third spots in the preseason poll are Yale (25 points, 1 first place vote) and Penn (21 points, 1 first place vote). Rounding out the list are Cornell (19 points), William & Mary (15 points) and Brown (12 points).
Temple will have the opportunity to support its top ranking against three of these ECAC foes during the regular season, as it will face Penn three times (Feb. 9, March 1, March 6), William & Mary twice (March 1, March 14) and Yale once (March 1). Temple will compete against all five ECAC members as it defends its title at the ECAC Championship on March 21.
The Cherry and White will open up their 2020 slate on Thursday, Jan. 9 in a tri-meet at Illinois with Lindenwood. The Owls' first home competition at McGonigle Hall is set for Saturday, Jan. 18 as Temple hosts SUNY Cortland and Southern Connecticut State.
