Women’s Basketball Heads to La Salle for Big 5 Showdown

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women's basketball team will make the five-mile trek up North Broad Street to take on Big 5 opponent La Salle tomorrow, Dec. 30, at 7 p.m.
THE OWLS
> Temple enters their first game after a short holiday break with a record of 6-6. In their last game on Dec. 22, the Owls fell 93-67 to Florida Gulf Coast at McGonigle Hall.
> Mia Davis averages a double-double of 19.0 points and 10.1 rebounds per game to lead the Owls. Davis is currently tied for third most double-doubles in the country with her total of eight.
> Ashley Jones adds 17.2 points and 3.8 assists per game to aid Temple on the offensive end. Jones has also helped the Owls in the rebounding column, pulling down 5.1 boards per contest.
> Sophomore Marissa Mackins leads the Owls with 29 three-pointers on the year as she averages 11.9 points per game.
> Leading both Temple and the American Athletic Conference in assists is freshman Asonah Alexander. The rookie totals 58 assists on the year to average 4.8 per outing.

> FGCU tied this season's single game three-point record - previously set by them - with their 19 shots from beyond the arc.
> The Eagles finished with a three-point shooting percentage of 40.4%, while the Owls shot 27.3% from long range.

> FGCU outrebounded Temple on the offensive end, 12-8, however both teams ended the game with 40 rebounds.

> On Dec. 21, the Explorers fell 77-69 against city foe Villanova for their sixth-straight loss.
> Freshman Claire Jacobs leads La Salle with 11.0 points per game. Twin sister Amy Jacobs adds 6.8 points per outing.
> Shalina Miller leads the Explorers with 7.8 boards per contest while delivering 2.3 blocks per game.
> La Salle is currently being outscored 63.9 to 61.3 by their opponents. The team is shooting 35.2% from the floor and 31.7% from beyond the arc.

> Villanova outscored the Explorers in three of the four quarters to walk away with the win.
