Men's Basketball Falls to Missouri

PHILADELPHIA - An early second-half run was not enough to seal the win as the Temple men's basketball team fell 64-54 to Missouri Saturday night. With the loss, the Owls drop to 6-2 overall in their first home defeat of the season.
Game Summary
> Sophomore Jake Forrester scored a career-high 11 points, draining three jumpers and going 5-of-7 at the foul line.
> The Owls shot 34 percent from the field, making just two-three pointers, and also turned the ball over a season-high 19 times.
> Quinton Rose led Temple with 16 points, while Nate Pierre-Louis was one rebound shy of his fourth double-double of the season (10 points, nine rebounds).Â
> Javon Pickett led the Tigers with 16 points with Dru Smith scoring 12 as the only two Tigers to score in the double digits.
First Half
> Temple started cold, shooting just 40 percent from the field and going 0-of-5 in three pointers.
> The Tigers took an early lead, going ahead after six minutes and gradually built a nine-point lead, 28-19, with just over four minutes to play in the half.Â
> Mizzou out-shot the the Owls, making 44 percent from the field and 6-of-18 from behind the arc.
> Temple went into the locker room down 33-27, the second game in a row the Owls have trailed at the half.
Second Half
> The Owls went on a 12-0 run early in the second half, to take a six-point lead, 45-39, at the 11-minute mark.
> Mizzou tied the game on a pair of free throws with eight minutes on the clock (47-47), but J.P. Moorman II put the Owls back on top with a three, 50-47..Â
> After the teams traded baskets, the Owls would miss four straight shots while turning the ball over three times. Missouri would take advantage, running off eight straight points to take a 57-52 lead with three minutes left.
> A Rose basket cut the margin to one possession (57-54), but the Tigers closed the game on a 7-0 run for the win.Â
Next Up
Temple will play in its second Big 5 game of the season, hosting Saint Joseph's on Dec. 10. The game is set for a 7 p.m. tip and will be televised on ESPNU.
