Women's Basketball Plays at #5 UConn on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA -- The Temple women's basketball team heads to #5 UConn on Saturday to take on the Huskies at Gampel Pavilion. The 1:00 p.m. game will be broadcast by SNY and ESPN3.

THE OWLS
> Temple is 8-14 overall (4-5 AAC) including 5-3 at home and 3-11 on the road.
> The Owls have won four straight games, the longest active win streak in the American Athletic Conference. 
> Sophomore Mia Davis, the reigning Aonference Player of the Week, leads Temple on both ends of the floor, averaging 19.4 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.
> Graduate student Alliya Butts is second on the team in scoring, with 15.5 points per game, while leading the Owls with averages of 4.5 assists and 2.1 steals per outing.
> Freshman Marissa Mackins averages 7.3 points per game and is second on the Owls with 47 assists.
> Sophomore Emani Mayo chips in with 4.9 points per game, while junior Shantay Taylor is averaging 4.5 points and 5.5 boards per outing.
> As a team, Temple is shooting 38.6% from the field and 29.1% from long range.

LAST TIME OUT: Temple 76, Houston 65
> A huge performance from Mia Davis pushed Temple past visiting Houston, 76-65, in front of over 3,200 fans at the Liacouras Center on Tuesday afternoon.
> A game removed from setting a career best with 30 points, Davis topped it by three, while also tying a career high with her 17 rebounds.
> Tied 21-21 after one, Temple held just a one-point lead after three.
> Temple again had a huge fourth quarter, outscoring Houston 23-15, to turn a three-point lead into a 11 point win.
> The Owls out-shot Houston, 37.9% to 34.4%, while holding a 47-43 lead on the glass.
> Alliya Butts added 19 points, four rebounds, and four assists, while Marissa Mackins chipped in with 14 points and four boards. 

SCOUTING UCONN
> #5 UConn enters Saturday's contest with a 20-2 overall record, including a perfect 9-0 mark against conference opponents.
> The Huskies' high-powered offense features five players in double figures in scoring, led by two-time first team All-American and conference player of the year, Katie Lou Samuelson. She averages 18.9 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, with a team-best 21 steals.
> Two-time All-American Napheesa Collier also averages 18.9 points and adds a team-high 9.7 rebounds per game.
> Crystal Dangerfield adds 12.1 points per game, while dishing out a team-high 5.8 assists per outing. 
> Megan Walker adds 12.6 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, while Christyn Williams (10.7 ppg) rounds out the offense.
> The Huskies average 82.2 points per game, while shooting 48.5% from the field and 35.3% from three.
> UConn's scoring margin of +27.5 is the best in the nation.

> UConn posted a lopsided 118-55 win over ECU at home on Wednesday.
> The Huskies opened the game on a 16-4 run and didn't look back, leading 41-13 after one, and 70-25 at the half.
