> Temple had its three-game win streak snapped with an 81-73 loss at Memphis earlier this week. The Owls got 22 points from senior guard Shizz Alston, Jr., but struggled in the second half, particularly from three-point range.
> The Owls' most recent win came against Tulsa, 84-73 on Feb. 23, and was their 20th win of the season. Head coach Fran Dunphy has now guided the Owls to 20 or more wins in nine of his 13 seasons.
> For the AAC's Pow6rful Minds Campaign to help create awareness of mental health issues, the Temple men's basketball coaches are wearing specially designed green ribbon pins at both games this week.
> Temple is celebrating Hooter the Owl's birthday on Sunday, and has a 12-1 record since the first time the Owls celebrated their mascot's birthday in the 2005-06 season.
> Alston was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll for a fourth time on Feb. 25 as well as earning Big 5 Player of the Week honors. He has scored 20 or more points in each of the last four games and ranks second in the AAC with 19.0 points per game. Alston scored a game-high 28 points in the Owls' 82-74 home win over SMU on Feb. 13, and a game-high 24 points in Temple's 70-69 overtime win at USF on Feb. 16. He was named the AAC Player of the Week for a third time on Feb. 18.
> The career lists at Temple have Alston moving up in both assists (394, ninth all-time) and points (1,479, 19th all-time)
> The SMU win on Feb. 13 was the 10th home victory for Temple (now 11-2 at home), and the Owls now have nine 10-win seasons at the Liacouras Center under Dunphy.
> The Owls defeated then-#17/15 Houston in the first of two meetings this season at home on Jan. 9, making it 12 seasons in a row that Temple has defeated a Top 25 program. Temple remains the only team to defeat the Cougars this season, with Houston now at 25-1 overall and ranked #6/8 in the national polls.
> Junior guard Quinton Rose and sophomore guard Nate Pierre-Louis average 16.1 and 14.0 points per game, respectively, to rank second and third on the team. Rose has tallied six 20-point performances while Pierre-Louis has four.
