Lacrosse Back Home to Host Boston University on Tuesday

PHILADELPHIA - Coming off a 2-0 week with both games being on the road, Temple lacrosse returns home to host Boston University (3-3) on Tuesday, March 12 at 3 p.m.. The Owls (3-4) will play a total of 10 non-conference games before beginning their American Athletic Conference slate on March 30 in the first-ever year of AAC women's lacrosse.

Scouting Temple
> The Owls are 3-4 this season and coming off a 13-10 win at city rival La Salle on March 5 and a 16-12 win at UMBC on March 9. Temple's 16 goals at UMBC were its most so far this season.
> Junior Maddie Gebert leads the Owls with 17 goals and 18 total points, and five other players have scored between seven and 10 goals. The second-leading player in total points is senior Amber Lambeth with eight goals and five assists for 13 points. Junior Olivia Thompson is the only other player besides Gebert to reach double digits in scoring so far with 10 goals.
> Gebert recorded hat tricks in both games last week and got the game-winner in both as well, scoring three goals at La Salle and a season-high four goals at UMBC. Junior Meghan Hoffman also scored four goals at UMBC for a career high, and senior Amber Lambeth added three goals.
> Thompson exploded for a career-high six goals in the Owls' 12-10, come-from-behind win at Rutgers on Feb. 13 and was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll. Gebert also notched a hat trick in that victory with three goals.
> On Feb. 26, Temple and Lafayette played back-and-forth lacrosse until the Leopards scored four straight to end the game.
> Sophomore Bridget Whitaker tallied her second career hat trick at Saint Joseph's, leading Temple with three goals. Whitaker is tied with sophomore Courtney Taylor for the team lead in caused turnovers with 10.
> Junior Kara Nakrasius has a team-best 29 draw controls while Lambeth has 23 draws and seven caused turnovers.Â
> Sophomore goalkeeper Olivia Martin made her first career start at La Salle, making seven saves and recording her first victory. Â
> Gebert was the Owls' leading scorer with 33 goals in 2018 and was named to the Preseason All-American Athletic Conference Team along with Lambeth and Nakrasius.
> Four team captains have been chosen to lead the Owls in 2019: seniors Kelsea Hershey, Lambeth and Thompson along with junior Nakrasius.

> BU is 3-3 overall, losing its last two straight after previously winning three in a row. Last week, the Terriers lost 16-11 vs. #17 USC, and lost 9-8 in double overtime at Harvard.
> The Terriers are coming off a 10-8 season that saw them lose to #9 Loyola in the Patriot League semifinals.
> Kailey Conry and Tonianne Magnelli were each named to the Patriot League Preseason All-League Team. Both were named to the 2018 All-Patriot League First Team as well as the IWLCA All-Northeast Region Second Team.
> The Terriers returned 79.1 percent of their point scorers from last season.
> Former BU women's lacrosse All-American Lauren Morton ('08) was named the head coach of the program on June 15, 2018, becoming the fourth head coach, and first alumna, to hold the position.
