Anderson and Castrence Earn ECAC Weekly Accolades

PHILADELPHIA—Senior captain India Anderson and freshman Ariana Castrence earned ECAC weekly honors for their standout performances in both of Temple's home meets last weekend.
Anderson is a three-time recipient of the ECAC Specialist of the Week honor. The Allendale, S.C. native capped off her final meets in McGonigle Hall with two outstanding floor routines. She anchored the Owls on Friday and Sunday in her signature event, taking the event title on both days with a pair 9.875s. These were Anderson's seventh and eighth scores of 9.85 or higher on floor this season. Anderson helped the team earn a 49.3 on Friday to tie the program's floor record.
Castrence earned her third ECAC weekly accolade of the season as well, as she was named ECAC Rookie of the Week for the second time and has also been the ECAC Gymnast of the Week. Castrence had an impressive weekend for the Owls, competing in the all-around competition in both Friday and Sunday's meets. In Friday's competition against Maryland, SCSU and West Chester, Castrence posted a career-best 9.85 on floor to propel her to a 38.950 all-around score. She earned second place for her efforts. On Sunday, she was superb as well, tying her career-best with a 9.85 on vault. Castrence won the all-around title with a 39.025.
Next up, Temple will travel to ECAC foe Brown to face the Bears and the Bridgeport Purple Knights on Sunday, March 17. Competition is set to begin at 1 p.m.
