Women’s Tennis Hosts Hofstra Thursday, ECU Saturday

PHILADELPHIA—Temple women's tennis (9-4, 0-1 AAC) is set to host Hofstra and AAC foe ECU this week. On Thursday, March 21, the Owls will take on the Hofstra Pride at 9 a.m. at the Legacy Tennis Center. Temple and ECU will face off in an AAC matchup on Saturday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Legacy.
The Owls
> The team is led by head coach Steve Mauro, who is in his 11th year at the helm of the women's program.
> Last time out, Temple competed at Philly rival Penn on Saturday, March 16. Temple's doubles team of Ruoyu Chen and Chunan Xiang notched a victory at first doubles. Penn swept the singles matches, but the contests were closer than the final score suggests. Four of the six matches were pushed to three sets.
> The doubles pairs of Chen and Xiang and Alice Patch and Oyku Boz have been stellar this season. Chen and Xiang are 7-4 this season and Patch and Boz are 8-3. In singles, Chen boasts an 8-3 record at the No. 1 and No. 2 spot.
Scouting Hofstra
> Hofstra is led by Jason Pasion, who is in his third year as head coach of the Pride.
> Hofstra is 8-6 on the season. The squad last competed on Tuesday, March 19 at Loyola Maryland. The Pride defeated the Greyhounds, 4-3. Hofstra lost the doubles point, but rallied to win four of the six singles contests.
Scouting ECU
> ECU is led by head coach Tom Morris, who is in his 21st season at the helm of the program.
> The Pirates are 15-2, with their two losses coming against No. 3 North Carolina and N.C. State. The squad is in the midst of a 15-match winning streak. Last time out, ECU played a doubleheader against Elon and NC A&T on Saturday, March 16. The Pirates defeated the Phoenix, 6-1, and the Bulldogs, 5-0.
