Brown Earns High Jump Title to Spearhead Strong Performances at Ole Miss Classic
3.30.19 | Women's Track and Field
OXFORD, Miss. – The Temple University track and field squad put another solid weekend of competition under its belt on Saturday afternoon at the Ole Miss Classic. After the distance crew put together a slew of speedy races yesterday in Raleigh, the sprint, jump, and throw squads showed progress across the board on Saturday. Multiple Owls put up season-best marks, and sophomore Aisha Brown highlighted the day in the high jump, bringing her second gold of the season back to North Philadelphia.
Meet Highlights
> Julianne Foering got the Ole Miss Classic started in the javelin. The sophomore put together a solid group of throws on the day, finishing sixth overall with her furthest mark of 39.00m (127' 11").
> On the track, McKenzie Gelvin competed in the 1500m for the first time this season to debut the running events for the Cherry and White. The sophomore raced well in her lone individual event of the day, finishing fifth overall in the 38-person field with a time of 4:40.61.
> For the second time this season, Brown emerged victorious in the high jump to hand Temple an individual win on the day. Neck-and-neck with Kameesha Smith from Illinois State, Brown took the title off of a tie-breaker after clearing 1.76m (5' 9.25") in the fewest attempts. So far this season, Brown has placed first twice and second once in her signature event, posting her best jump of the season today at Ole Miss.

> Williams competed again in the 400m hurdles, running her best time of the year and finishing just .3 off of her all-time best. The sophomore ran the long hurdles in 1:03.86, good for fifth overall. Brown also competed in the hurdles, finishing 13th with a time of 1:06.83.
