Lacrosse Heads up Broad Street to La Salle on Tuesday

PHILADELPHIA - Another city rivalry game is on tap for Temple lacrosse as the Owls (1-4) head to La Salle (1-3) for a 3 p.m. game on Tuesday, March 5. Both teams are looking to turn things around after three-game losing streaks.
Scouting Temple
> The Owls are 1-4 so far and coming off a 13-10 loss to Lafayette on Feb. 25. It was the third straight defeat for Temple since winning 12-10 at Rutgers on Feb. 12.
> In Temple's other city rivalry game on Feb. 21, the Owls lost 17-8 at Saint Joseph's.
> Junior Maddie Gebert leads the Owls with 10 goals and 11 total points, followed by juniors Olivia Thompson and Julia Ryan with seven goals each.
> Thompson exploded for a career-high six goals in the Rutgers win and was named to the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll. Gebert also notched a hat trick in that victory with three goals.
> Temple and Lafayette played back-and-forth lacrosse until the Leopards scored four straight to end the game. Senior Amber Lambeth notched her first hat trick of the season for the Owls.
> Sophomore Bridget Whitaker tallied her second career hat trick at Saint Joseph's, leading Temple with three goals.
> Junior Kara Nakrasius has a team-best 22 draw controls while Lambeth has 19 draws and seven caused turnovers. Sophomore Courtney Taylor leads the Owls with eight caused turnovers and is tied with junior Michelle Koscinski for the team lead in ground balls with 10.
> Gebert was the Owls' leading scorer with 33 goals in 2018 and was named to the Preseason All-American Athletic Conference Team along with Lambeth and Nakrasius.
> Four team captains have been chosen to lead the Owls in 2019: seniors Kelsea Hershey, Lambeth and Thompson along with junior Nakrasius.
> Last year's Owls went 9-8 overall, achieving their fourth straight winning season.Â

> The Explorers opened the season with a 17-4 win vs. LIU Brooklyn, but have since dropped three straight.
> La Salle and Temple have both played Delaware, with La Salle losing 11-8 and Temple falling 7-4.
> Last year's Explorers went 7-10 overall and did not advance to the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
> Sophomore Maddie Dachowski leads La Salle with 10 goals while sophomore Bridget Ruskey has nine.Â
> Sophomore Molly Loughlin has played the majority of time in goal for La Salle with 26 saves to 35 goals allowed.Â
