Stewart, Holzwarth Named to Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Men's Rowing Team

PHILADELPHIA -- Temple crew student-athletes Andy Stewart and Ben Holzwarth were honored for their athletic and academic achievements, as two of nine named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Team. The team is nominated and voted on by the sports information offices of 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

In order to be eligible for Academic All-Area honors, an athlete must be in at least his or her second year at the institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better. 

Stewart, a native of Ambler, Pa., graduated in May with a degree in environmental studies and a certificate in geographic information systems. The five seat in Temple's lightweight varsity eight boat, he won silver with his crew at the 2019 Dad Vail Regatta, helping the Owls win the overall points trophy at the event. Stewart also helped his boat to a bronze medal at the 2019 Knecht Cup. A two-time Academic All-Area selection, he will begin his professional career as a solutions engineer at Esri.

Holzwarth, a native of Pittsford, N.Y., is a junior architecture major. He rowed in the bow seat of Temple's heavyweight second varsity eight this season, helping the crew advance to the grand finals of the event and the overall points trophy. On campus, he is a member of Temple's Architecture Lectures Committee,
