PHILADELPHIA – Temple's Helene Gottleib and Millie Howard are two of 10 student-athletes who have been selected to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Women's Track & Field Team. Voting was conducted by the sports information offices of 30 institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.
Eastern's Nicole Weenink has been named the 2018-19 Philadelphia Inquirer All-Area Women's Track & Field Performer of the Year.
Howard, also recently named to the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's Track/Cross Country Team, selected by CoSIDA, is a rising senior economics major with a 3.98 GPA. This Academic All-Area honor is the third of her Temple career. She represented the Owls at the NCAA East Region Preliminary for a third year in a row, won gold in the 1,500m at the 2019 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships, and set the school record in the event at the Bison Outdoor Classic with a time of 4:16.81.
At the 2019 Penn Relays, Howard was part of the school record-setting DMR relay. She was named the AAC Female Track Athlete of the Week on April 16.
Howard was named to the 2019 Temple Trustee Ten for having one of the 10 highest GPAs among all Temple student-athletes, and has been named to Temple's President's Honor Roll each year of her career.
