Men's Tennis Chosen to Play in ITA Kick-Off Weekend in 2020

TEMPE, Ariz. - For the first time in program history, Temple men's tennis is one of 60 teams to be selected for the 12th annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association Kick-Off Weekend which will take place January 24-27, 2020 at 26 different facilities across the country.
During that weekend, 60 teams per gender will travel to 15 host sites to participate. Host sites were selected based on the final 2018-19 Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
"We are very honored to have been chosen to play in the ITA Kick-Off Event," said Temple head coach Steve Mauro. "All 60 teams in this event have had a great season. We look forward to facing No. 4 ranked Florida. This honor caps off a terrific season for us, and I couldn't be prouder of the hard work and grit that our entire team and staff put forward this season. We're extremely appreciative of all the support we have received this past year and are very proud to represent Temple University."
Each of the 15 regional host institutions will welcome three other teams for a single-elimination event, with the winners advancing to the National Team Indoors. The Wisconsin men and the Illinois women will serve as hosts for the National Team Indoors in 2020, guaranteeing them an automatic bid into the championships.
Temple will face Florida on the Gators' home court in Gainesville. Florida went 25-4 this past season and advanced to the NCAA Semifinals. The Owls went 16-7 and advanced to the AAC Tournament Semifinals.
The ITA Kick-Off Weekend is unique in college athletics in that each regional is determined via the Kick-Off Weekend Draft, where each team selects which regional they wish to participate in. Selections are made in order of the final 2018-19 Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings.
