Golf Set to Open Season at Cornell Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Temple Golf team opens its 2019-20 season this weekend at the Cornell Invitational. The two-day, 54-hole stroke play event will be held at the 6,904-yard par 71 Robert Trent Jones Golf Course at Cornell University. Â
Scouting the Owls
> Temple head coach Brian Quinn returns seven golfers from last season's squad, but only two, Conor McGrath (23 rounds) and Dawson Anders (six rounds), played more than five rounds during 2018-19.
> Anders is coming off a strong summer where he qualified for the US Amateur, while McGrath is the top returnee with a 75.70 stroke average.
> Conor's brother, Liam, is also among the team's top five golfers for the opening tournament as well as newcomers Graham Chase and Danny Nguyen.
> Temple won the 16-team tournament in 2017, and placed sixth in 2018.
The Field
> Twelve other schools will be in the field: Binghamton, Brown, Bucknell, Canisius, Colgate, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Penn, St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's, and Siena. Columbia, Cornell and Penn will be entering two teams.Â
> Yale is the defending team champion, but is not entered this year.
> There will be two rounds Saturday with the final round held Sunday.
