Temple Announces Promotions/Digital Strategy Changes

9.19.19 | General

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple Owls digital area features a new look this fall, as the department announced a restructuring along with new hires and several promotions. Leading the charge is the promotion of Vinnie James to Senior Associate Athletic Director and Chief of Staff, who now oversees the department's digital efforts.

James will oversee both the video production and digital strategy areas, headed by new hires in Kevin Copp, Associate AD/Video Production, and Katie Gwinn Hewitt, Assistant AD/Branding & Digital Strategy.

"I'm really excited about this group," said James. "I think we have the potential to take our digital content to the next level. I'm looking forward to seeing what more we can accomplish this year."

The digital strategy and production area includes Temple's in-house creative team, also known as "Hoot Creative." The team, run by Hewitt, includes all social and digital media, and creative video production.

The design efforts have been bolstered by the promotion of Brian Gray to Director of Graphic Design and Caroline Bennett to Director of Motion Graphic Design. Both contribute to the Owls' nationally-recognized social media creatives. Temple will add another full-time graphic designer in the coming weeks.

Copp's video production area, which will be powered by ESPN+ beginning in the 2020-21 school year, will include two other new positions when fully staffed next fall. The department will handle live and on-demand event streaming of games, press conferences, and special events.
