Field Hockey Heads to Providence, Hosts Penn

PHILADELPHIA- The Temple field hockey team will split its time between road and home play this weekend, continuing conference play at Providence Friday night before hosting Penn for its second Big 5 matchup of the season. The Owls are looking for their first win in conference play since October of 2016, and the first under new head coach Susan Ciufo. The team is undefeated against Philadelphia schools this season, earning wins against La Salle and Drexel at Howarth Field.
Scouting Temple
> Temple is off to a hot start this season, winning three of its four home matches. The team has held its opponents to just six goals at Howarth Field, shutting out two.
> Senior Dani Batze leads the team in goals with three, while sophomore Claire Thomas and redshirt freshman Kerrie Lorenz have each recorded two. Both Batze and Thomas have scored two game-winners.
> The Owls have recorded nearly 80 shots, with Batze, Lorenz, and Kathryn Edgar each attempting double-digit shots.
> Temple has two players with defensive saves on the season. Batze has recorded two while sophomore Annie Judge has recorded one.
Scouting Providence
> Providence is 4-3 this season, earning a win over then-No. 24 Maine on the road. The team is 1-2 against ranked teams this season.
> The Friars opened their conference season with a 4-3 double overtime loss to No. 22 Old Dominion.Â
> The team is 2-1 on the road, with its only loss on the road coming at Maine.
> The Friar offense is potent, scoring in all seven of their games.

> This will be the ninth meeting between Temple and Providence, with the series split 4-4.
