Women’s Basketball Returns to Conference Action Sunday in Cincinnati

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women's basketball team returns to conference action on Sunday, Jan 26 at 2 p.m. as they take on the Bearcats of Cincinnati at Fifth Third Arena.
THE OWLS
> Temple returns to American Athletic Conference play after a thrilling win over Penn on Jan. 23 to secure a share of the Big 5 crown.
> The Owls are now 12-7 this season with a 4-2 mark in conference play.
> Mia Davis leads the Cherry and White with 19.7 points and 11.1 boards per game. Her rebounds per night ranks 10th in the country and first in the American.
> Davis totals 13 double-doubles on the season, which ranks second-most in the nation.
> Redshirt sophomore Ashley Jones adds 16.4 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists per outing.
> Marissa Mackins also adds double-digit figures for the Owls, tallying 13.3 points per game. Mackins leads both Temple and the American with 54 three-points this season.
> Graduate student Lena Niang is the second leading rebounder for Temple with 5.7 boards per game. Niang nets 7.2 points each night to aid the Owls on the offensive end.
> Freshman Asonah Alexander is the American assists leader with 93 on the year, averaging 4.9 per game. Her assist/turnover ratio of 3.0 ranks first in the conference and seventh in the country.

> Temple defeated Penn 76,72 on Jan. 23 in comeback fashion to win the program's 11th Big 5 title.
> Hot shooting from Penn saw the Quakers hold double digit leads in each of the first three quarters.
> Penn's advantage grew to as many as 15 points and the visitors started the fourth quarter holding a 60-47 lead.
