Women’s Basketball Hosts UCF Wednesday Night

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women's basketball team returns to McGonigle Hall on Wednesday, Jan. 29 as they welcome UCF for a 7 p.m. tip-off on Broad Street.
THE OWLS
> Temple enters the Wednesday night matchup 12-8 overall and 4-3 in American Athletic Conference action. The Owls are currently fifth in the conference.
> Junior Mia Davis leads Temple with 19.8 points and 11.1 boards per game. Her rebounds per night ranks 10th in the country and first in the American.
> Davis totals 14 double-doubles on the season, which ties for second-most in the nation.
> Redshirt sophomore Ashley Jones adds 16.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. Jones leads the Cherry and White with her 80.5 free throw percentage.
> Marissa Mackins is the third and final Owls to average double-digit points with 13.6 per night. Mackins leads both Temple and the American with 58 three-pointers this season.
> Graduate student Lena Niang is the second leading rebounder for Temple with 6.0 boards per game. Niang nets 7.4 points per game and is the second leading three-point shooter for the Owls.
> Freshman Asonah Alexander is the American assists leader with 95 on the year, averaging 4.7 per game. Her assist/turnover ratio of 3.0 ranks first in the conference and eighth in the country.
LAST TIME OUT: Cincinnati 86, Temple 81
> The Owls fell 86-81 to Cincinnati on Sunday, Jan 26 at Fifth Third Arena in Ohio.
> Cincinnati had a great shooting performance as the Bearcats finished the day shooting 51.7% from the floor.
> The Owls shot 26.1% from beyond the arc (6-23), shooting under 30% for the first time in four games.
> Temple registered a season-low six turnovers in the loss while they outrebounded the Bearcats 43-38.
> Davis notched her 14th double-double of the season with a game-high 23 points and 11 rebounds, while Niang recorded 11 points and 10 rebounds for her third career double-double.

> Masseny Kaba leads the Knights on the boards with 6.6 rebounds per contest. The junior forward chips in 8.4 points each game.
> Brittney Smith is the second leading scorer for UCF and the only other double-digit scorer with her 10.8 tallies per game. Smith leads the Knights with her field goal percentage of 56.1.
LAST TIME OUT: UCF 82, Memphis 66
> The Knights topped Memphis 82-66 on Saturday, Jan. 25 in Orlando as they improved to 3-3 in conference action.
> Kay Kay Wright led UCF with 21 points and a career-best 12 assists.
> Brittney Smith and Georgia Gayle each added 12 points in the win while Masseny Kaba tallied 11 points.
