Track and Field Set for Regular Season Finale at Boston University's Valentine Invitational

PHILADELPHIA – After two weeks of diligent training, the Temple track and field team will return for its final regular-season meet on Friday, Feb. 14 to compete at Boston University's David Hemery Valentine Invitational. The Owls are set to compete at the Track and Tennis Center in Boston, Mass. and will look to finalize their marks before the American Athletic Conference Championships in two weeks.
 
About the David Hemery Valentine Invitational
> The David Hemery Valentine Invitational is a two-day meet that runs from Friday, Feb. 14 through Saturday, Feb. 15, featuring women's races on Friday and the men on Saturday.
> Sydney Williams will get the day started for the Owls in the 60m hurdles. The junior is set to compete at 12:35 p.m., racing in the invitational trials section for being seeded in the top-27.
> At 12:55 p.m., Alanna Lally and Helene Gottlieb will compete in the 800m. Following, Williams will return to the track to race in the 60m dash invitational trials at 2:10 p.m. Chelby Elam, Brielle Lewis and Candus Burks will all race the 60m as well, competing in the open section at 2:15 p.m.
> At 2:35 p.m., Marissa White is set to race the 400m dash. Following, Deyona Banks will compete in the 500m at 3:30 p.m.
> The bulk of Temple's sprinters will race in the 200m, scheduled for 4:00 p.m. sharp. White, Williams, Lewis, Elam and Burks will return to the track to be joined by Mallorie Smith and Aisha Brown.
> At 5:30 p.m., Millie Howard and Mikaela Vlasic will compete in the mile. Two hours later, Temple will race a 4x4 at 7:30 p.m., made up of Brown, White, Williams and Lally.
> Two late-night distance races will conclude competition for the Owls this Friday, with Grace Moore running the 3000m at 8:30 p.m. and Michelle Joyce competing in the 5000m at 9:40 p.m.

Last Time Out
> The Owls sent their sprint and jump crews up to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex two weeks ago to compete at the Villanova Invitational.
> Four sprinters represented the Cherry and White in the 60m dash prelims. Williams recorded the top time for the Owls, advancing to finals with a preliminary time of 8.04. Elam trailed her teammate by just .02 of a second, clocking in at 8.06 to advance as well. In the finals, both broke the eight-second mark and moved up in the results, with Williams taking fourth with a time of 7.94 and Elam finishing sixth with a time of 7.96. Zowie Dahn also had a solid performance in the 60m, finishing 12th overall with a time of 8.13.
> Williams was the top finisher once again for the Owls in the 400m run. The junior put together a solid performance for her third race of the day, finishing ninth with a time of 59.11. Brown strayed from her typical high-jumping to compete in the 400m as well, earning 14th overall with a time of 60.17.
> White was a force in the 200m dash, running the fastest race for Temple this season in 24.87 to earn second place overall. Smith was also phenomenal in the 200, running her fastest time of the season in 25.14 to finish fourth. Lewis put on a great performance as well, finishing in 25.70 to earn eighth overall.
 
AAC Top-10
> As the indoor season begins to wind down and the conference meet quickly approaches, 10 Owls rank top-10 in the American in their respective events.
> In the 400m, White's time of 55.76 from the Fastrack Season Opener ranks ninth in the AAC. Her time on Dec. 6 was just over a second off of her fastest-ever time of 54.62 from last outdoor season and marks her third-fastest time on a 200m indoor track.
> Howard still leads the conference in the 800m after her standout performance at the Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge on Jan. 23. Her AAC-leading time of 2:08.41 is just over a second off of the 2:07.05 school-record in the event, held for the past 10 years by Victoria Gocht. Lally trails Howard by just .03 of a second in the 800m, putting her second in the American with a time of 2:08.44. Gottlieb also worked her way into the top-10, sitting 10th overall with a time of 2:14.45 from the Penn 8-Team Select.
> Three Owls appear in the conferences' top-10 in the mile as well, with Howard seeded the highest for the Cherry and White. Her time of 4:51.01 from the Penn 8-Team Select currently sits third, and Gottlieb is right behind her at fourth with a time of 4:51.19. Moore currently sits seventh with her time of 4:53.01 from the Penn 8-Team Select.
> Moore and Howard also appear in the American's top-10 in the 3000m run. Moore's time of 9:32.47 from the Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge ranks fourth, and Howard's time of 9:51.00 from the Penn 8-Team Select sits ninth.
> In the high jump, Brown currently sits third with a mark of 1.75m. Her jump from the Dr. Sander Columbia Challenge trails Memphis' Walton and Cincinnati's Beard by just 0.01m, as they each recorded jumps of 1.76m.
