Men’s Basketball Travels to Wichita State for Thursday ESPN Game

WICHITA, Kan. – Temple (14-13, 6-8 AAC) concludes a two-game American Athletic Conference road swing Thursday night with a rematch at Wichita State (8 pm ET/ESPN/1210 AM WPHT).  The Owls defeated the then #16 Shockers (20-7, 8-6), 65-53, on Jan. 15 at the Liacouras Center to extend their streak of wins over nationally-ranked foes to 13 seasons.

SCOUTING TEMPLE
> Temple, under the direction of head coach Aaron McKie, features a balanced attack with seven players averaging 5.9 ppg or more.
> Senior guard Quinton Rose leads Temple (2nd AAC) in scoring (16.3 ppg), assists (3.5 apg/9th AAC) and steals (2.0 spg/3rd AAC).  Rose, who is also the AAC's all-time leader in points (1,793) and steals (224), is the only players to rank in the Top 10 in the conference in these categories. 
> Junior guard Nate Pierre-Louis leads Temple in rebounding (8.3 rpg/5th AAC), while ranking second in scoring (11.5 ppg), assists (3.0 apg) and steals (2.0/4th AAC).
 > Senior Alani Moore II (8.6 ppg) has doubled his offensive output from last year (4.1 ppg) and is third in the AAC in threes per game (2.1) and sixth in three-point percentage (.395).
> Rounding out the starting five are sophomore Jake Forrester (8.2 ppg/4.1 rpg) and junior Justyn Hamilton (3.3 ppg).  Junior J.P. Moorman II (5.9 ppg), who ranks second on the team in rebounding (5.2 rpg), has started 23 games. 
> Junior De'Vondre Perry (6.1 ppg), who is 5th in the AAC in three-point percentage (.423), redshirt junior Monty Scott (7.1 ppg), who topped double figures in four of the last five games, and freshman Josh Pierre-Louis (4.2 ppg) have provided the most impact from the Owls' deep bench. 

SCOUTING WICHITA STATE
> Wichita State, under the direction of head coach Gregg Marshall, is one of eight teams in the country to win 20 or more games in every season since 2010.
> The Shockers sport a balanced attack with three players averaging in double digits and another four topping seven points per game
> Sophomore Erik Stevenson leads WSU with an 11.7 scoring average while senior Jamie Echenique (11.3 ppg/6.7 rpg.) is the team's top rebounder.  Freshman Tyson Etienne is among the AAC's leaders in threes made (2.1 pg) and percentage (.410).
> Wichita State is 15-2 at home this season with the losses coming to #25 Houston and Cincinnati.

SERIES HISTORY
> > Temple and Wichita State are meeting for the 10th time, and seventh as conference opponents. Temple owns a 6-3 edge, and have won two of the three meeting in Wichita.
> The teams first met as AAC rivals on Feb. 1, 2018, with the Owls upsetting the #16/16 Shockers 81-79 in OT at the Liacouras Center. Wichita State won the rematch at home, 93-86, on Feb 15. The Owls were then knocked out of the AAC Tournament by the Shockers in the quarterfinals, losing 88-81 on March 9.
> Last season the teams split two contests with the Owls winning an overtime thriller, 85-81 at the Shockers on Jan. 8.  Wichita State again eliminated Temple in the AAC Tournament, 80-74.
