Castrence Earns Third ECAC Gymnast of the Week Honor

PHILADELPHIA—Gymnastics' Ariana Castrence has been named the ECAC Gymnast of the Week for the third time this season, following her fantastic all-around performance at Maryland's Terrapin Invitational on Sunday.
Castrence competed all four events for the Cherry and White, earning a spot on the podium on vault, floor and in the all-around. The Waldorf, Md. native tied her career-high on vault with a 9.875 to earn second place on the event, posted a 9.825 on bars, a 9.7 on beam and tied her career-best on floor with a 9.85 to earn a share of second place. Castrence took the all-around crown, her fourth title of the season, with a 39.25. Her superb vault was instrumental in helping the Owls set a new program record on the event (49.15). She is currently ranked No. 1 in the ECAC on vault, bars, floor and in the all-around. Castrence is also third on beam.
Up next, the Owls will return home to McGonigle Hall for the first time in a month to host Bowling Green and Penn on Friday for Alumni Night. The competition is set to begin at 7 p.m.
