PHILADELPHIA-- Jaylene Everett has been named to the 2019-20 Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area At-Large Team following an outstanding campaign in both the gym and the classroom this year. The senior is one of twelve female student-athletes to earn this honor. The team is voted on by the sports information offices of 30 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

Everett finished her senior season ranked sixth in the ECAC on vault with an NQS of 9.765 and recorded season-highs of 9.85 on vault and 9.825 on floor. Everett was instrumental in helping the Owls' vault and floor lineups make history. She was a key member of the lineups that broke the vault program record with a 49.15 and scored the fifth-best floor score in school history. Everett's efforts culminated in her earning First Team All-ECAC honors on vault and being named an ECAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The Cherry and White concluded the 2020 season with a title, as they were named ECAC Champions for the second year in a row.

On the academic front, Everett is a standout student. She studies biology, owning a 3.84 cumulative GPA, and will be attending medical school after graduation. The Harleysville, Pa. native has been named to the Dean's List six times and earned a 4.0 GPA in fall 2019. Everett has supplemented her coursework by gaining professional experience as a volunteer at Temple University Hospital through the At Your Service internship for two years, conducting cancer-related cell signaling pathway research in Temple's biology lab for three years and volunteering at the University of Pennsylvania's hospital over the summer. She is also a PASS Leader for General Chemistry I at Temple and does various STEM course tutoring for fellow student-athletes at Temple's Resnick Academic Support Center.

Everett is joined on the Philadelphia Inquirer All-Area team by fellow Owls Quinn Duwelius, Malia Hee and Kerry Plunkett of the fencing team.
