Women’s Basketball Opens New Year at ECU

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women's basketball team will look to win their third-straight American Athletic Conference game as they head to East Carolina on Wednesday, Jan. 6 for their first game of the new year. The teams will tip-off at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
THE OWLS
> Temple looks to open 2021 with their third-straight victory. The Cherry and White enter Wednesday's game with a record of 2-3 (2-0 AAC).
> Senior Mia Davis averages a double-double of 22.4 points and 10.4 rebounds to lead the Owls. So far, the forward has recorded three double-doubles this season.
> Junior Alexa Williamson is Temple's second-leading scorer with 10.2 points per outing, while pulling down 5.6 boards each game. The Houston, Pa. native was recently named the Philadelphia Big 5 Player of the Week and earned a spot on the American Athletic Conference Weekly Honor Roll following an impressive performance against Tulsa. Williamson tallied a career-best 20 points, shooting 72.7% (8-11) from the floor.
> Rookie Jasha Clinton was tabbed the AAC Freshman of the Week on Dec. 28 following her 12 points, six rebounds, three assists and two steals in the win over Tulsa. Clinton averages 8.8 points and 3.6 boards per contest.
> Leading Temple and the AAC in the blocks column is sophomore Asonah Alexander with 1.8 per game, totaling nine on the season. The guard is also averaging 7.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game.

> The Owls topped Tulsa 69-52 at home on Dec. 23, 2020 to improve to 2-0 in conference action.
> Temple's offense didn't click until the second half, but the Owls stayed within a few points of Tulsa through the first two quarters.
> The Owls created separation on the third, outscoring the Hurricane 17-10, taking a five point edge into the fourth.
