Volleyball Falls in Home Conference Opener

PHILADELPHIA - In its first home match since starting AAC play, the Temple volleyball team (4-10, 0-3 AAC) fell 3-1 to Tulane (10-5, 3-0 AAC)Â Friday night. This is the fourth-straight match the Owls have taken to four sets.
How It Happened
> The first set started out tight, but the Owls quickly began to pull away.
> Temple took its largest lead of the set (19-15) with a kill from Gem Grimshaw, but a late surge from Tulane gave the Green Wave the set 25-23.
> The set second began as another close one, but this time it was the Green Wave who would pull away.
> Tulane took a 16-12 lead and never looked back. The team remained in the lead for the rest of the set, earning a 25-22 win to take a two-set lead.
> Set number three was the tightest of the night, with neither team seeing much of a lead until a Temple run gave the team a five-point lead (19-14).
> The Green Wave attempted a comeback to seal the match, but Temple was too much and took the set 25-21.Â
> Tulane dominated the fourth match, earning a 25-20 win to take the match.
Individual Highlights
> Three Owls recorded double-digit kills, with Miray Bolukbasi's 13 leading the team.
> Grimshaw posted a double-double with 12 kills and 11 digs.
> Falanika Danielson posted a team-leading 13 digs while Taylor Davenport led the team in blocks with six.
> Patrycja Zielinska registered 44 assists for the third time this season, five shy of tying her season-high.
