Volleyball Drops Match to Houston

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple volleyball team dropped its fourth-straight match in conference play Sunday afternoon, falling 3-0 to Houston. With the loss, the Owls fall to 4-11, 0-4 AAC while the Cougars improve to 13-3, 3-1 AAC.
How It Happened
> Houston took an early lead in the first set, surging ahead to go up 21-12.
> The Owls looked to make a comeback with a 4-0 run, but the Cougars called a timeout and scored the next five to take the set 25-16.
> In the second set it was Temple who would take an early lead, but Houston would tie it up at seven and neither team would find much separation through the rest of the set.
> Set two would remain close to the end and see 16 ties, going into extra points before the Owls fell 26-24.
> The final set saw Houston dominate, taking a 10-7 lead before pulling away 15-9 and never looking back.
> Temple tried to chip away at the deficit, but the Cougars were too much and took the set 25-15 to win the match.

> Miray Bolukbasi had an impressive match, leading the team in both kills (12) and digs (seven).
> Freshman Chelci Banks saw a team-leading seven blocks to set a new career-high, while Bolukbasi and Taylor Davenport each added seven.
> Peyton Boyd posted her second-best hitting percentage of the season (.308) while Bolukbasi recorded her best hitting percentage of conference play (.265).
