Stockton, Calif.  – Temple Golf, which had not finished lower than sixth in its first four tournaments, struggled for the first time all season, placing 14th at the highly-competitive Visit Stockton Invitational Saturday.  The Owls, dealing with a flu outbreak on the squad, were six-over for their final round and 14-over for the event.

Recapping Day Three

> McGrath posted his 11th round at-or-below par, shooting a two-under 69 to finish the tournament tied for fifth overall with a nine-under 204.   The Owl junior had three birdies on the day, including two of his final four holes for his 10th round of the season in the 60s.
> Junior Buddy Hansen had his best round as an Owl, joining McGrath as the only Temple golfers under-par for the round with a one-under 70.  He finished tied for 61st overall with a five-over 218.
> Graham Chase was second overall for Temple, finishing with a four-over 217 to tie for 57th.  He struggled with a five-over on his front nine but finished strong with two birdies to go one-under on the back nine for a 75.
> Ethan Whitney and Dawson Anders rounded out the Owls' five, shooting 17-over 230s for the tournament.

The Field

> Washington State (816) held off a charging St. Mary's (817) to win the tournament by one stroke. San Jose State (829) was a distant third.
> Max Sekulic of Washington State shot a nine-under 62 for his final round to win the tournament with a 16-under 197.  He edged St. Mary's Kristian Bressum (198) by one stroke.

Quotable: Head Coach Brian Quinn

> "Since we have been here, we have had the flu running through our team.   We have been struggling all week.  It was good to see the kids try to persevere through it.  We look forward to getting back home and competing next Saturday at the City 6."
