Golf Opens Spring Season at Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Monday

HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Temple golf team opens its spring season next Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 21-22) at the 16th Annual Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate. The 17-team event will be held at the Arnold Palmer Signature Course, which is a 6,913-yard, par 72 course and it is a regular stop on the PGA Tour.
Previewing the Owls
> Temple, which had five top six finishes in the fall, will look to continue its success at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate.
> Junior Conor McGrath has had the best fall of any Temple golfer in school history with a 69.86 stroke average. He placed in the top 10 in four out of the six tournaments and was named the American Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Month in September.
> Sophomore Graham Chase was second on the team with a 72.14 stroke average and posted seven rounds at even or below par.
> Freshman Ethan Whitney (73.29) and senior Dawson Anders (73.43) also had strong fall seasons for the Cherry and White while junior Buddy Hansen (74.09) had a solid finish to the fall campaign with a top-10 finish at the City 6.
The Field
> Augusta returns to defend its title in the event hosted by Francis Marion. The other teams in the field are Charleston Southern, Cleveland State, Dayton, East Carolina, Eastern Michigan, Furman, Gardner Webb, Mercer, Ohio, Presbyterian, Radford, South Carolina Aiken, Western Carolina, and Winthrop.
