Owls Upended by Wichita State in Three

WICHITA, KAN. – The Temple volleyball fell in three sets to Wichita State (17-8, 11-5 ACC) on Friday night by the score of 15-25, 19-25, 25-27 at Koch Arena in Wichita.
The Shockers had the edge in hitting percentage throughout in the match, holding the Owls to .098 with eight team blocks the night, while hitting .270 for themselves.

RECAPPING THE MATCH
SET 1
- Temple would hold a 3-1 advantage to begin the first set before the Shockers went on a 24-12 run. WSU capitalized on six unanswered points during the stretch to win 25-15.
- Wichita State tallied six individual blocks in the set, including two from Kayce Litzau and Morgan Stout.
SET 2
- The Shockers put together five stretches in the 25-19 set-two win where they scored three points or more before the Owls could break serve.
- WSU's Brylee Kelly had nine of her match-high 19 kills in the second-set victory.
- Temple's Miray Bolukbasi had her first of her two, four-kill sets on the night in set two.
SET 3
- The two teams played a more competitively in the third stanza. The set saw nine ties and three lead changes.
- Temple and Wichita State were tied 7-7 before the Shockers pulled away by a few points. WSU extended its lead to four points on two occasions, 14-10 and 20-16, but the Owls wouldn't go away.
- Cherry and White libero Falanika Danielson served her team to a 5-0 run and the 22-20 lead.
- Again, the Shockers were able to tie the score on back-to-back unanswered points.
- Temple found themselves with its first set point of the match at 25-24 on one of four Taylor Davenport kills on the evening, but Sophie Childs stopped the Owls' momentum with her second kill of the match.
- Wichita State finished off the match on a 3-0 run to win 27-25.
Overall, the Owls drop to 5-21 on the season and 1-14 in the American.
