Women's Basketball Drops Big 5 Contest to St. Joe's, 73-63

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple women's basketball team (5-4, 0-0 AAC) dropped a home contest to Saint Joseph's (4-6, 0-0 Atlantic 10) on Saturday afternoon, falling 73-63. The loss snaps the Owls three-game winning streak. The Owls led by one with just over three minutes remaining in the first half, but an 8-0 run gave the Hawks a seven-point lead entering the second half. The Owls fought in the second half to take the lead but were unable to do so.

Statistical Leaders
Jasha Clinton: team-high 24 points on 10-15 shooting. Led the team with five assists and four steals.
> Mia Davis: 18 points on 6-10 shooting from the floor. Led the team with nine rebounds.

First Quarter: Temple 10, Saint Joseph's 17
> The Hawks opened the game on a 13-4 run within the first seven minutes.
> Buckets by Emani Mayo, Davis, and Clinton ended the first quarter to help the Owls outscore the Hawks to cut the deficit.

Second Quarter: Temple 25, Saint Joseph's 32
> The Owls opened the second period on a 12-4 run to take their first lead of the contest. A three-point basket from Clinton as well as seven points from Mayo helped close the gap.
> Three lead changes in the next few minutes gave the Hawks the lead with two minutes remaining in the quarter.
> Saint Joseph's ended the quarter on an 8-0 run to end the period and take a seven-point lead going into the break.

Third Quarter: Temple 41, Saint Joseph's 49
> A three-pointer by SJU's Katie Jekot stretched the lead to 10, but the Owls responded with a 5-0 run to cut the deficit shortly after.
> Five consecutive points from Davis kept the Owls within the striking distance, but TU was not able to get enough stops to take the lead.
> The Hawks ended the quarter on a 5-0 run of their own to take an eight-point lead going into the final period.

Fourth Quarter: Temple 63, Saint Joseph's 73
> Three-pointers from both teams kept the Hawks advantage at eight in the early goings of the fourth quarter.
> Buckets from Davis and Alexa Williamson gained a little momentum for the Owls, but TU was unable to capitalize as St. Joe's kept the Owls at arm's length throughout the rest of the contest.
