Men’s Basketball Continues Homestand with Drexel Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple continue its three-game homestand Saturday when the Owls (6-5) host the Drexel Dragons (5-5) at 2 pm (ESPN+/1210 AM WPHT).  The Owls will be looking to snap a two-game skid, recently falling to UCF in their American Athletic Conference opener Wednesday.  The Dragons just snapped their two-game losing streak with a home win over Coppin State Tuesday.

SCOUTING TEMPLE
> Damian Dunn leads the Owls in scoring (13.2 ppg), three-pointers made (10), steals (15) and free throw percentage (39-46, .848).  Dunn has picked up his game since Khalif Battle (21.4 ppg) was sidelined for the season, averaging 16.8 points over the Owls last four games.
> Jeremiah Williams is second on the team in scoring (9.4 ppg) while runs the show offensively. He leads the Owls in assists (4.3 apg, 5th AAC) and minutes per game (30.6 mpg).
> Temple's sixth man, Tai Strickland, is next in scoring at 9.1 ppg, while leading the squad in three-point percentage (9-24, .375).
> Jake Forrester, who leads the team in field goal percentage (.577), averages 6.5 ppg and 4.0 rpg and Nick Jourdain (3.6 ppg), who tops the team in rebounding (5.3 rpg) and blocks (1.7 bpg), are the frontline starters with Quincy Ademokoya (1.7 ppg) rounding out the starting five.
> Jahlil White (4.4 ppg, 4.1 rpg) and Sage Tolbert III (3.0 ppg, 4.6 rpg) are major contributors off the bench.
 
SCOUTING DREXEL
> Drexel, which won the Colonial Athletic Association and advanced to the NCAAs last season, sports a balanced offensive attack led by James Butler, who averages a double-double (14.5 ppg, 10.3 rpg).
> Camren Wynter (14.0 ppg) and Xavier Bell (10.1 ppg) also average double figures for the Dragons.  Wynter tops the team in assists (4.1 apg) and is tied for second in rebounding (5.2 rpg).
> Melik Martin (9.5 ppg) and Mate Okros (6.6 ppg. 17 three-pointers) round out the Drexel starters with Lamar Oden. Jr. (7.0 ppg, 14 threes) and Amari Williams (5.0 ppg, 5.2 rpg) the team's top reserves.

SERIES HISTORY
> Temple leads Drexel 31-10 all-time and have won 11 of the last 12 meetings.  The lone Drexel win in that stretch came on Dec. 22, 2006.
> The last meeting was Aaron McKie's debut as Temple's head coach with the Owls winning 70-62 at the Liacouras Center on Nov. 5, 2019.
> Six of Drexel's nine wins in the series were over 100 years ago, as the Dragons went 6-2 in games against Temple from 1901 to 1908.
> The teams are believed to have competed in one of the first collegiate basketball games with Drexel Institute defeating Temple College, 26-1, on Nov. 22, 1894.
