PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women's basketball team suffered a 89-52 loss to Houston Wednesday afternoon at McGonigle Hall. The Owls fell to 7-8 (7-5 AAC) while the Cougars improved their record to 11-5 (8-4 AAC).
How It Happened
> Houston knocked down 11 three-pointers to fuel their way past the Owls. The Cougars shot 50.8% (31-61) from the field and 44% (11-25) from beyond the arc.
> Temple committed 26 turnovers to log their second-most turnovers in a game this season. Houston was able to capitalize on the Owls' mistakes and score 40 points off turnovers.
> The Cougars held a slight advantage on the boards, pulling down 37 rebounds to Temple's 32.
> Houston's bench added 24 points to the Cougars' second-highest scoring total of the season.
Statistically Speaking
> Junior Alexa Williamson paced the Owls with 19 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.
> Senior Mia Davis added 17 points and six rebounds for Temple.

> Houston jumped out on a 7-0 run at the beginning of the game thanks to back-to-back threes from the Cougars.
> Davis ended the streak when she was fouled on a good basket and made the free shot.
> Houston then went on a 16-3 run, starting at the 6:19 mark and stretching to the end of the quarter.
Second Quarter: Houston 38, Temple 18
> The Cougars held Temple to just eight points in the second quarter as they collected 14.
> Temple committed seven turnovers in the second frame, putting their total first-half mistakes at 16.
> Houston scored eight second-chance points after pulling down six offensive boards.
> The Owls shot 4-for-11 (36.4%) from the field as they struggled to put points on the scoreboard.
Third Quarter: Houston 61, Temple 38
> Houston outscored the Owls 23-20 in the third, shooting a whopping 71.4% (10-14) from the floor.
> Williamson registered nine points as she went 3-for-4 from both the field and the foul line.
