SCHEDULE SHUFFLE
>This match was originally scheduled to be played on Saturday, Feb. 20 before weather forced the move from Memphis to Philadelphia. This also necessitated a change to the current date.
> To avoid playing back-to-back matches. The game against Drexel scheduled for tomorrow has been postponed. A new date is to be determined.
> The Temple-Memphis game on Mar. 27th has been flipped to a Memphis home match in response to Tuesday's game being moved to Temple.
THE OWL POST
> Temple is 1-1 to start the season. The Owls are currently part of a three-way logjam for second place in the American Athletic Conference alongside Tulsa and UCF.Â
> Temple has played well so far this season against a pair of Florida opponents. The Cherry and White scored a major victory against 2019 NCAA tournament qualifier USF and took #14 UCF down to the wire in a 1-0 nailbiter last week.
> Nikolas Hartmann has only played two games at the NCAA Division I level in his career, but has already proven to a solid presence in net. The sophomore goalkeeper leads the AAC in saves with seven, and is second in saves per game, carrying a 3.5 average. He has earned conference Honor Roll recognition in each of the first two weeks of the season.
LAST TIME OUT: TEMPLE 0, UCF 1
>The Owls fell to #14 UCF 1-0 in a close battle.
>The Knights controlled the first half, scoring the only goal of the game in the 38th minute. Temple mustered a late push, but could not even the score.
>Amir Cohen paced the team in both shots (5) and shots on goal (2). Cohen previously scored a goal the week prior against USF.Â
> Hartmann played a huge role in keeping the Owls in the game. The Ibiza native had one of the best keeper performances in the AAC thus far into the season. Hartmann's five saves set a new single-game high for the most saves by any goalkeeper in the AAC during the 2020-21 season.
SCOUTING MEMPHIS
> Memphis is coming off a 10-7 season in 2019, notable for its lack of ties.
> Last season Temple twice bested the Tigers 2-1 in overtime. The second match earned the Owls their first ever victory in the AAC conference tournament.
> Memphis was defeated by #8 SMU 2-0 to open the season. Their second match against Tulsa was rescheduled to March due to inclement weather.
> The Tigers tied for fourth in the AAC preseason poll alongside Temple. They had a pair of forwards in Peter Chang and Gurman Sangha named to the preseason all-conference team. They are the only team in the AAC that has not yet had a player named to the weekly awards.
