Men's Basketball Concludes USF Series Wednesday in Tampa

TAMPA - Temple concludes its two-game series with USF with the second game Wednesday night (7 pm/ESPNU/1210 AM WPHT) in Tampa.  The Bulls (8-8, 4-6 AAC) took the opener, 83-76, Sunday, in Philadelphia and will be looking for the sweep. Temple (4-10, 3-10) is trying to snap a six-game losing streak against an opponent it has a perfect 6-0 record against at the Yuengling Center. 

Scouting Temple
> Sophomore Khalif Battle, who is coming off a career-high 32 points in Sunday's loss, now leads the Owls in scoring (13.9 ppg) and is second in rebounds (6.0 rpg) and three-pointers made (18).  He has started the last two games in place of redshirt freshman Damian Dunn, who has been out with a knee injury.
> Junior Jake Forrester, who tops the team in rebounding (6.1/9th AAC) and FG% (.562/4th AAC), and freshman Jeremiah Williams, who is fourth in the AAC in assists (4.3), are close behind at 9.7 and 9.1 ppg.
> Senior captains De'Vondre Perry (7.4 ppg, 5.0 rpg) and J.P. Moorman II (7.0 ppg, 5.4 rpg) are right behind as is grad transfer Brendan Barry (7.1 ppg), who leads all DI reserves in minutes per game (27.4 mpg), tops the Owls and is second in the AAC in three-point percentage (.448).
> Freshmen Nick Jourdain, who scored eight points in his first start Sunday, and Quincy Ademokoya, who had nine points at Tulsa, have seen more time of late.

Scouting USF
> USF has been one of the hardest hit teams in terms of Covid protocol issues, having seven straight conference games suspended from Jan. 9 to Feb. 10.
> The Bulls returned to the court against the league's top team, Houston, on Feb. 10 for the first of three losses before snapping the skid at Temple on Sunday.
> Senior guard David Collins (12.6 ppg/3.8 apg) leads a balanced Bulls scoring attack with its top five players averaging 8.1 points or more per game.
> Redshirt junior forward Alexis Yetna (10.1 ppg) is one of the top rebounders in the conference, ranking third in offensive rebounds per game (2.7) and tied for fourth overall (7.7).ppg.

Series History
> Temple and USF have met 15 times, with the Owls leading 11-4 in the all-time series.
> The Owls had won 11 in a row prior to falling at home last season, but have now dropped two straight to the Bulls.
> Temple has never lost to USF in Tampa (6-0). 
> The first meeting in the series was nine years ago in the NCAA Second Round at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. The Bulls won by a score of 58-44 after trailing Temple 19-15 at halftime. USF also won the first-ever meeting as conference opponents on Jan. 9, 2014, 75-82, but did not win again until last season.
