Cayet and Hartmann Named to AAC Honor Roll
2.24.21 | Men's Soccer
PHILADELPHIA- After Tuesday's 2-1 double-overtime loss to Memphis, senior defender Pierre Cayet, and sophomore goalkeeper Nikolas Hartmann were named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll for the week ending February, 23rd. For Cayet it marks his first weekly award since the week of Oct. 21, 2019. For Hartmann it is his third consecutive week on the AAC honor roll.
Cayet has been a key component of the Temple defense all season. The preseason AAC Defensive Player of the Year was strong all game against the Tigers. Despite not appearing on the stat sheet, the Frenchman was key to keeping the game winnable for Temple. He was often the last defender back and was stingy on allowing quality chances for the Memphis offense.
Hartmann has impressed all season during his first campaign at the NCAA Division I level. The Ibiza native has been named to the AAC honor roll all three weeks of the 2020-21 season. He put together yet another notable performance this week, with six saves including possibly the play of the match in the 38th minute when Hartmann saved what looked to be a surefire goal from point-blank range.
The Owls will host a rematch against the USF Bulls later this week Saturday, Feb. 27. The conference duel is set for 7 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.
