Track & Field Assistant Coach Chosen for NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar
2.4.21 | Women's Track and Field
PHILADELPHIA - Temple University Women's Track and Field Assistant Coach Tramaine Ellison has been selected to join the coaching panel for the 2021 NCAA Emerging Leaders Seminar (ELS).
The Emerging Leaders Seminar is an annual event which aims to educate, develop and connect young professionals with the skills necessary to accelerate their career progression in college sports. Ellison is grateful to have been selected to join the panel at this year's event and is delighted to share her knowledge and experience with young professionals in college athletics.
"Preparing the next generations of leaders is crucial to the future success of college athletics. The types of leaders you're exposed to, greatly shapes your own leadership style. So I take great pride in being someone who could potentially influence them, especially in this stage of their career. The degrees and internships come quickly in comparison to how long you're building a career. I plan to give them the most honest and relatable information I can offer about what to expect. It should be a good time."
As an active member of the track and field community, Ellison has plenty of experience to share. The Temple alumna joined the Temple women's track and field staff as assistant coach in August, 2016, with ten years of prior coaching experience. The Kinston, N.C., native got her coaching start in North Carolina public schools where she spent six years teaching the fundamentals of track and field to middle and high school students. Prior to Temple, Ellison served as Assistant Track and Field Coach and Massage Therapist at Winston-Salem State University before serving as an Assistant Coach at Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, N.C.Â
Ellison also had the honor of being twice selected as a delegate for the NACAC Congress, traveling to the Dominican Republic and El Salvador, and is a second year participant of NCAA Minority Leadership Series, nominated by USATF Director of Coaching, Terry Crawford.
The seminar will take place virtually between Feb. 3 and Feb. 5, 2021, with over 300 interns and graduate assistants from NCAA membership schools, conference offices and affiliate organizations participating.
