Men’s Basketball Looks to Shock Wichita State Sunday

WICHITA, Kan. - After a rare four-game conference homestand, Temple takes to the road to take on Wichita State Sunday (3 PM ET/ESPNU/1210 AM WPHT). The Owls (4-6, 3-6 AAC) will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak while the Shockers (10-4, 6-2) hope to stay unbeaten at home in conference play.
SCOUTING TEMPLE
> After a rare four-game conference homestand, Temple takes to the road to take on Wichita State.
> The Owls are 1-2 on the road this season, winning their last outing at Tulane (1/16) while losing at Houston (12/22) and SMU (1/16).
> Redshirt freshman Damian Dunn leads the Owls and ranks ninth in the AAC in scoring (14.1 ppg). He also is among the nation's leaders in free throws made per game (6.4 pg).
> Sophomore Khalif Battle, who leads the nation in minutes played by a reserve (29.0 mpg), also averaged double figures (11.4 ppg) while ranking third in rebounding (5.8 rpg).
> Junior Jake Forrester (9.6 ppg) tops the team in rebounding (6.4 rpg) and field goal percentage (.597), ranking third in the AAC in the latter.
> Junior captains De'Vondre Perry (8.3 ppg, 5.0 rpg) and J.P. Moorman II (7.6 ppg, 6.3 rpg) join freshman Jeremiah Williams (8.1 ppg, 4.5 apg) in rounding out an Owls starting five that has remained constant all 10 games.
> Graduate student Brendan Barry (6.8 ppg), who ranks second to Battle nationally in minutes played by a reserve (28.0 mpg), tops the Owls and ranks second in the AAC in three-point percentage (.465).

> Wichita State, led by first-year head coach Isaac Brown, sits second in the conference standings, winning its last two games after seeing two others postponed.
> The Shockers are 6-2 in league play, falling at Memphis and Houston, and are undefeated at home against AAC opponents.
> Tyson Etienne's scoring average of 17.9 ppg leads the American Conference, while Alterique Gilbert (10.0 ppg) rounds out the double-digit scorers.
SERIES HISTORY
> Temple and Wichita State are meeting for the 11th time, and eighth as conference opponents. Temple owns a 6-4 edge, and has won two of the four
meetings in Wichita.
> The teams first met as AAC rivals on Feb. 1, 2018, with the Owls upsetting the #16/16 Shockers 81-79 in OT at the Liacouras Center. Wichita State won the rematch at home, 93-86, on Feb 15. The Owls were then knocked out of the AAC Tournament by the Shockers in the quarterfinals, losing 88-81 on March 9.
