Women's Soccer Looks for Second Win of the Season Versus NJIT

PHILADELPHIA — After falling to 1-2-1 after a double overtime draw to East Carolina, the Owls are on the hunt for their second win of the season as they take on the NJIT Highlanders this Sunday, March 7 at 11 a.m. at Mal Simon Stadium in Newark, N.J.
The Owls
- Last time out, the Owls hoped to get their first conference win of the season, but the contest would end in a 1-1 draw after double overtime against the East Carolina Pirates.
- Freshman defender Róisín McGovern picked up her first goal as an Owl and the equalizer of the game. She would go on to be named AAC Rookie of the Week for her performance.
- Junior captain Kamryn Stablein leads the conference as its top goalkeeper and is eighth in the nation with 8.67 saves per game.
- NJIT finished the 2019 season 7-8-3 (ASUN 3-4-1), making it to the ASUN Conference Tournament semifinals.
- This season marks a new era for the Highlanders as they joined the America East conference in June 2020.
- The team is led defensively by redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Molly Saylor, who earned America East Defensive Player of the Week after posting a shutout against Wagner.
- Corbin Reifschneider and Lauren Chamberlain lead offensively, with Chamberlain being the team's leading scorer last season and Reifschneider picking up Offensive Player and Rookie of the Week accolades.
- Temple is 3-1 all-time against NJIT with the teams' last meeting in 2018. The Owls lost to the Highlanders 0-1.
