Golf Wins Temple Spring Invite; McGrath Shares Medalist Honors
4.10.21 | Men's Golf
PLYMOUTH MEETING, PA - It was a great day to be an Owl Saturday as Temple Golf won the four-team Temple Spring Invite by 13 strokes and junior Conor McGrath shot an even par 70 to share medalist honors. The one-round tournament was held at Temple's home course, the 6,951-yard, par-70 The 1912 Club.
Recapping the Tournament
> It was the first win McGrath's collegiate career and it was the third time he has led the Owls in five tournaments this season. The Temple junior started slow, double-bogeyed the first hole, but recovered with three birdies to hit the turn at just one-over. An eagle on the par-5 12th and a birdie three on the 13th put him at two under, but unfortunately he bogeyed the final two holes for his even-par round.
> Senior Dawson Anders and sophomore Graham Chase tied for third with two-over 72s. Chase had an eagle on his third hole and also birdied the 12th while Anders had three birdies during his round. Â
> Junior Buddy Hansen was one-under through 15 holes, but shot +4 over his final three to place sixth while senior Peter Bradbeer rounded out the scoring with a 77 to tie for 11th with teammate Andrew Curran, who was competing as an individual
The Field
> Temple shot a seven-over 287, besting second place Villanova (300) by 13 strokes. Rider was next at 306 with Saint Joseph's rounding out the field at 313. Â
> Villanova's Matt Minerva, who was playing as an individual, shared medalist honors with McGrath with an even-par 70.
Quotable
> Obviously it was a great win for us. I am very proud of my kids. I think we still see the same thing that we have been seeing this whole season. We are struggling coming down the stretch. We have to trust ourselves a little bit more. Once we do that, with the talent that we have with our top five players, we will do great things." - Head coach Brian Quinn.

> Temple stays in the area, traveling to Villanova, Pa. Monday to play in the two-day Wildcat Spring Invitational at Radnor Valley Country Club. Â
