Golf Sits Eighth After First Day at Wildcat Spring Invitational

VILLANOVA, Pa. - Temple Golf finished in eighth place in the 16-team field at the Wildcat Spring Invitational after Monday's first round.  The two-day, 36-hole tournament being held at the 6,484-yard, par-70 Radvor Valley Country Club concludes Tuesday.

Recapping the Round
> Junior Conor McGrath leads the Owls and is tied for ninth with a one-over 71. After starting with bogeys on two of the first three holes, he settled in with birdies on the 4th and 8th holes to make the turn at even par.  He played the final nine at one-over, with his only blemish a bogey on the 16th.
> Sophomore Graham Chase made a birdie on hole six and was one-under after nine. Unfortunately he bogeyed four straight holes (11 thru 14) and finished with a birdie and 17 and bogey on 18 for a three-over 73 to tie for 24th.
> Senior Dawson Anders made one birdie on the day and finished with a four-over 74 to for 32nd. 
> Junior Buddy Hansen had the most birdies on the day (4) for the Owls, but struggled with seven bogeys and one double-bogey to finish fourth for Temple and tied for 46th overall with a five-over 75.
> Senior Peter Bradbeer (78, t-72nd) and sophomore Andrew Curran (79, t-80th) rounded out the Owls' squad.

The Field
> St. John's leads the 16-team field with a three-under 277 and is five strokes ahead of second-place Bucknell (282).  The Owls are 16 strokes back with a 13-over 293. 
> The Red Storm's Jack Simon and Douglas Beney are tied for first overall with four-under 66s.
