Track and Field Wraps Up Action on Day One of Quaker Invite

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple track and field team recorded three first-place finishes Saturday afternoon at the Quaker Invite, hosted by Penn at Franklin Field. 

Meet Highlights
> The 4x100m relay squad of Chelby Elam, Chidumga Nkulume, Jewel Ofotan and Marissa White started the meet on a high note with their first-place time of 47.98. 
> Ragan-Lei Phillips followed with a first-place finish of her own in the 100m hurdles, crossing the finish line at a personal-best 15.14.
> In the 400m, Alanna Lally led the Owls with her first-place mark of 56.40, followed closely by White in second at 56.48.
> Elam was the first in the Cherry and White to cross the finish line in the 100m, clocking in at 12.22 for second place. Nkulume followed in third with her mark of 12.48. 
> In the 200m, White recorded a second-place finish at 24.91, followed by Elam's personal-best 25.01 for third. 
> Both Nicole Castor and Sophia Gulotti shined in the first four events of the heptathlon. 
> Castor currently sits at third in the event after finishing first in the high jump (1.61m), third in the 100m hurdles (16.21), third in the shot put (9.09m) and fourth in the 200m (28.13). 
> Gulotti is currently second in the heptathlon after finishing second in all four events with personal bests in each (shot put - 9.15m, high jump - 1.64m, 100m hurdles - 15.48, 200m - 26.88). 

Up Next
> Castor and Gulotti will finish the heptathlon tomorrow morning starting with the long jump at 10:45 a.m. followed by the javelin and the 800m. 
> The Owls will then return to Franklin Field on Saturday, Apr. 24 for the Philadelphia Metropolitan Collegiate Invitational.
