PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's soccer star Pierre Cayet has signed a professional contract with the New England Revolution II for the 2021 season as announced by the club on Wednesday morning. The details of the contract, which is pending USL Championship and USSF approval, were not disclosed.
"I am very excited for Pierre to have this opportunity," said Temple head coach Brian Rowland. "He has shown what a special player he can be at the college level, and he accomplished some amazing things for us and has grown as a player as a leader. I think it's a great opportunity for him, and for our program it's exciting to continue to put players in the professional world and show that we are a destination for players to improve and earn a professional chance."
Cayet has been a key player in Temple's success both on and off the pitch during his three-year run with the Owls. He was a two-year captain for the team and started every match from the moment he stepped on campus. The defender twice won all-AAC honors and was named unanimous American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year for the 2020-21 campaign. He is also the only player in Temple history to have been selected to an All-AAC Tournament team.
"There are moments at Temple I will remember for the rest of my life," said Cayet. "Everything here just was a blessing for me and I'm grateful for everything that has happened and what I've accomplished."
Besides his AAC honors, Cayet also earned a spot on the 2019 Third Team All-Region with the All-Region team for this past season not yet announced. He ends his time in Cherry and White with 12 points from five goals and two assists. He graduated from Temple in Spring of 2021 with a degree in Adult & Organizational Development.
