Crew Impresses in 2021 Debut
4.3.21 | Men's Crew
PHILADELPHIA – The Temple men's crew season started off with a bang on Saturday at the Murphy Cup. The Owls earned medals in all four events that they competed in, winning one gold to go along with two silvers and a bronze. All races held were finals.
The varsity eight boat put on an impressive showing, winning the Owls' lone gold medal of the morning by a boat length over second-place Drexel.
"Today was a good day for Temple Crew," head coach Brian Perkins said. "This is our first sprint race since May of 2019. We have two classes of guys for whom this was their first collegiate sprint race because of the pandemic. To be able to line up against the best schools in Philly is always an honor, but to do well against them says a lot about the depth and trajectory of the program. The Murphy Cup is back home."
