Clinton Named Big 5 Rookie of the Year; Davis, Williamson Earn All-Big 5

PHILADELPHIA — The Temple women's basketball trio of Jasha Clinton, Mia Davis and Alexa Williamson were honored with Philadelphia Big 5 awards, as announced by the league Tuesday afternoon.Â

Clinton highlighted the awards for the Owls with her Big 5 Rookie of the Year title and a spot on the All-Big 5 First Team. The Virginia Beach, Va. native finished her first year on Broad Street averaging 14.4 points, 4.0 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 2.1 steals per game. Clinton scored 10+ points in 18 of 22 games played and recorded a double-double with 21 points and 11 assists in the Mar. 2 win over Memphis. The guard was named to the 2021 American Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team and earned AAC Freshman of the Week three times during her rookie campaign. Clinton led the Cherry and White in steals (47) and three pointers (43).Â

Davis ends her senior year as a USBWA All-American, a Top 10 Finalist for the Cheryl Miller Award, First Team All-American Athletic Conference and First Team All-Big 5 honoree. Davis led the Owls and finished second in the AAC with 17.7 points per game while leading Temple with 7.6 rebounds each outing. The senior scored in double digits in 19 games and hit the 20+ points mark eight times, including a career-best 34 points at FGCU. Davis is Temple's all-time leader in made free throws with her current career total of 412. Davis has etched herself into Temple women's basketball history as she sits at third in both made field goals (685) and career rebounds (961) and fourth in career points (1,849).
Williamson earned a spot on Second Team All-Big 5 after an impressive junior season, where she averaged 12.5 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game. The forward was named Big 5 Player of the Week on Dec. 28 and earned a spot on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll three times this season. Williamson scored in double figures on 11 different occasions, including three games with 20+ points. The Houston, Pa. native pulled down 10+ boards in four games and ended the season with two double-doubles.
