Men's Crew Advances to Finals at IRA National Championships

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. -- The Temple men's crew team advanced to the finals of the 2021 IRA National Championships, after fighting through rainy weather on the opening day of the event at Mercer Lake on Friday.

Time Trials, Semis
> Temple's three heavyweight boats all recorded top-16 finishes in the morning time trials, qualifying through to the semifinal round.
> The Owls' heralded varsity eight took 16th out of 30 boats in the opener, recording a time of 5:39.622, despite a new lineup due to injury. The Owls then finished sixth in their semifinal heat in 6:44.60, and will compete in the "C" final on Saturday.
> The second varsity eight boat ranked 11th out of 28 crews, finishing its time trial in 5:57.911. In the semis, Temple was fifth in 7:03.889, just outside of qualifying for the "B" final, and will race in the "C" final on Saturday.
> Temple's third varsity eight boat raced to a 12th place finish (6:29.512) out of 16 crews in the time trials. In the semifinals, a fifth place finish in 7:03.889 advanced the Owls to the "B" final on Sunday.

Lightweights Close Season
> Temple's lightweight varsity eight boat closed their season with a fifth place finish in the grand finals. The Owls clocked in at 7:14.606 to close out a solid 2021 season,
