Women's Soccer Travels to Maryland for 2021 Season Opener

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's soccer opens up the 2021 season on the road this Thursday, Aug. 19 against Maryland at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on BTN+ from Ludwig Field in College Park, Md.

- Thursday's matchup will serve as the 2021 season opener for both teams.
- The Owls competed in the programs first spring season last year after facing the postponement of fall competition due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Temple posted a final record of 4-5-1 (2-5-1 AAC) in the condensed season, finishing seventh in the AAC.
- Sophomore Lexy Endres returns for the Owls as the leading point scorer, tallying six points on one goal and four assists.
- Sophomore Róisín McGovern and seniors Hailey Gutowski and Gabriela Johnson led the team in goals, each netting two on the season.
- Senior goalkeeper Kamryn Stablein started in all 10 games for the Owls, recording 60 saves and a .800 save percentage.
- Maryland returns to action in 2021, coming off of a 0-10-2 (0-9-2 Big Ten) season.
- The Terps return leading scorers Alyssa Poarch and Keyera Wynn, each tallying five points on two goals and one assist last year.
- Kennedy Tolson returns in goal for the Terps, starting in 9 games and recording 33 saves with a .733 save percentage.
- Maryland leads the all-time series against the Owls, 3-2-1. The teams last met in 2019 in a double overtime match that ultimately ended in a 1-1 draw.
