Women’s Soccer Set to Travel to Towson Thursday

PHILADELPHIA – Temple women's soccer (0-1-2, 0-0-0 AAC) will travel to Towson (1-1-2, 0-0-0 CAA) for their second road game of the season this Thursday, Sept. 2. The match is set for 7 p.m. at Tiger Field and will be broadcast live on FloSports.

The Owls

The Owls advanced to 0-1-2 after their first weekend at home as they tied Penn, 1-1 and Binghamton, 0-0 in back-to-back double overtime matches.
Erin Theiller notched the lone goal of the weekend in the match against Penn off a free kick sent in by Lexy Endres from the midfield.
Kamryn Stablein was named AAC Goalkeeper of the Week after recording fifteen saves in the match against Penn, with eight of those saves coming after Penn found the equalizer in the 67^th minute to preserve the draw.
Stablein enters the week leading the AAC in saves per game (9) and ranking second in total saves (18).

Scouting Towson

Towson enters the match with an overall record of 1-1-2 (0-0-0 CAA) after finishing the 2020-21 season 2-4-2 (1-3-0 CAA).
The Tigers are led by a talented group of sophomores in Phoebe Canoles, Nia Christopher and Riley Melendez.
Canoles, who redshirted last year, has tallied two goals and an assist on the season, leading the team in points. Christopher follows close behind with two goals in just four games.
Goalkeeper Riley Melendez returns for the Tigers as a defensive force. Melendez has recorded 18 saves and a .857 save percentage on the season, entering the week as the CAA leader in saves, ahead by a four-goal margin.

Game Preview

Temple is 1-3-1 all-time against Towson with the teams' last meeting in 2017. The match advanced to double overtime at Tiger Field, but ultimately ended in a 0-0 draw.
