Gawronski Named CollegeSoccerNews.com Player of the Week

9.1.21 | Men's Soccer

PHILADELPHIA – Following two shutout performances featuring match-saving overtime penalty kick saves in both games, Eoin Gawronski has been awarded Collegesoccernews.com men's Player of the Week for his performance. His recognition follows several awards this week, including American Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, and being named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week.

"No player in the country may have made a greater impact on his team during the first week of the 2021 season than Gawronski, who continually came up with the big saves that he needed to make to put his team in position to be successful," said CollegeSoccerNews.

Gawronski made nine saves over his two shutout performances. He has now produced clean sheets in four of his nine career starts and has not yet allowed a goal this season. The redshirt freshman is among the first players in NCAA history to have back-to-back games with overtime penalty kick saves. He is the first Temple player to be honored by the site since midfielder Jalen Campbell in week one of the 2020-21 season.

The Owls will return to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 4 against Manhattan at the Temple Sports Complex.  The non-conference matchup is set for 3 p.m. and will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
