THIS WEEK
After Temple's first win of the season, the Owls look to continue this week with their first home game of the 2021 campaign against Boston College. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00pm and will air on ESPNU and 97.5 The Fanatic.
LAST WEEK
Last week, Temple won its first game of the season over the Akron Zips by a score of 45-24. After a slow start in the first quarter, the Owls found themselves in a 14-0 hole before a 70-yard catch-and-run by wide receiver Randle Jones got the ball rolling late in the first quarter. Midway through the second quarter, two defensive touchdowns in 12 seconds by LB William Kwenkeu and DE Manny Walker helped give the Owls the lead going into halftime. From there, the Cherry & White never looked back as touchdowns from Jones, QB Justin Lynch, and RB Ra'Von Bonner extended the lead. Making his first collegiate start, true freshman quarterback Lynch threw for 255 yards and two touchdowns while adding another touchdown on the ground.
LAST TIME VS. BOSTON COLLEGE
The last time that the Owls suited up against the Boston College was back in September of 2018 when a Geoff Collins-led team fell to the Eagles by a score of 45-35. Down by 17 points midway through the third quarter, the Owls tried to mount a comeback as Ryquell Armstead scored two second-half touchdowns to cut the deficit to three with 9:02 remaining in the fourth quarter. However, a late Boston College touchdown sealed the Owls' fate. Despite the loss, Armstead had a career day for Temple as the senior carried the ball 24 times for 171 yards and four touchdowns.
LAST TIME VS. BOSTON COLLEGE @ LINCOLN FINANCIAL FIELD
The last time that the Cherry & White faced off against the Eagles at Lincoln Financial FIeld was back in the season finale of the 2004 season when the Owls fell to #19 Boston College, 34-17. Temple quarterback Walter Washington completed 25 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns to become the first player in school history to reach the 3,000 total yard mark, while also breaking the Big East record for total plays (554) in a season.
UP NEXT
The Owls will attempt to protect their home field once again when they host Wagner at Lincoln Financial Field. Kickoff is set for 12:00pm and will air on ESPN+.
